It was my great honour to host my respectful colleague Anders Nordborg for a three-day SoundPLANnoise advanced training course.

When we didn’t discuss the SoundPLAN and its great possibilities for unlimited acoustic application, we talked about microphone arrays. I had a rare opportunity to listen to amazing stories and receive valuable advice from one of the pioneers of microphone arrays.

After a fruitful week, Anders and I separated as new friends. Anders left Belgrade with new memories and as an advanced SoundPLAN user. I stayed to apply Anders’ advice in my BorderUAS innovation project.

Noise mitigation projects in dense urban area with dozens of significant industrial noise sources?

No problem, Dirigent Acoustics is doing it regularly, using the best tool available in the world, the SoundPLAN GmbH SoundPLAN software.

We always start by collecting the data, measuring the noise levels, sound power, directivity and time histogram of each noise source. And each heating plant has dozens of them! Geospatial data for 3D modelling was collected by senseFly eBee by Prof. Tosa Ph.D. Ninkov's crew.

And of course, as always the brilliant performance of SoundPLAN. Our skilful "artists" Milica Raicković, Tamara Vuković and Dejan Todorović used this magic tool to calculate every single inch of the ground and every window in the neighbourhood.

We finally brought peace and silence to the people of Belgrade and Novi Sad living next to the heating plants of our clients JKP Beogradske Elektrane (Belgrade heating plants) and Public Utility Company "Novosadska toplana".

Great to have Jean-Paul Moerman again in Novi Sad, this time to hold service and user training.

Beautiful beast 48-fader AURUS platinum console conducts the NEXUS "orchestra" of RTV from the Audio Control Room of the 600sq meters Big TV studio: the two NEXUS Star routers with four NEXUS Base Devices with variety of I/O's and respectable DSP power performing the symphony in the gorgeous new building of RTV with the perfect acoustics.

Dirigent Acoustics gained the trust from PE Roads of Serbia on the public tender to deliver the technical documentation for the largest Belgrade noise project.

After decades of high noise annoyance and its impact on citizens' health, with the execution of the planned noise protection wall, hundreds of people of Novi Beograd will finally experience a better living environment.

This summer, our noise control division completed the noise mitigation project for a densely populated area of Novi Beograd. The wall will protect citizens from the noise of the heavy traffic E-75 highway that penetrates through Belgrade. Our architect and urban planner, Tamara Vukovic, optimised the aesthetics of this immense wall so that it would best fit its urban surroundings.

As always, we used SoundPLAN software to model and reliably calculate the existing and predict the future noise conditions.

Since 2018 VINCI Airports has been responsible for the Airport's operations and started with the massive reconstruction and expansion. Dirigent Acoustics was invited to support VINCI and their local partner Energoprojekt in this great project. Our team lead by head of acoustics Milica Raickovic, followed by Tamara Vukovic and supervised by Dejan Todorović, Serbia NFP (National Focal Point) for Aviation Noise Research Network, successfully performed the acoustic measurements and acoustic study that included noise control, sound insulation and PA system intelligibility..

The most interesting part of the study was examining the aircraft idle mode noise in SoundPLAN software and using our acoustic goniometer device for sophisticated acoustic measurements.

Last week our engineers performed acoustic response measurements in the audio control room of the production studio inside the public broadcaster Radio-televizija Vojvodine building.

Dirigent Acoustics was responsible for audio and acoustic design for this new building with 14 radio and TV studios and many control rooms. Optimal room acoustics, Stage Tec GmbH AURUS platinum mixing console integrated with sophisticated NEXUS routing system and Focal-JMlab main CR monitoring for the sound perfection..

BorderUAS Horizon 2020 project announcement

Dirigent Acoustics is proud to be an acoustic sensor development work-package leader in BorderUAS Horizon 2020 project.

In BorderUAS, Dirigent Acoustics (aka DIRACS) will be leading all activities in the development and implementation of the Acoustic Sensor. The system will provide an audio stream for sound classification and generate a real-time acoustic map of a surveyed area that will localize significant sound sources on the ground and in the air. The acoustic sensor will consist of a microphone array, using a beamforming algorithm to generate a visual presentation of an acoustic field. To improve the quality of the acoustic sensor, DIRACS is also working on developing graphene microphones. This new type of microphone, developed earlier by DIRACS as a functional prototype, shows great potential for various applications, including the requirements of the BorderUAS system in terms of high sensitivity, low self-noise, and extended frequency range.

World-famous violin virtuoso Stefan Milenkovic performed the first music performance; Orthodox New Year program with Vasil Hadzimanov and Camarata Academia Orchestra Novi Sad.

Dirigent Acoustics joins Graphene Flagship

We are excited to be approved from the Management Panel as an Associate Member of the Graphene Flagship, the biggest EU research and innovation H2020 project.

Dirigent Acoustics will contribute WP6 - Sensors through the further development of our graphene microphones and loudspeakers for the commercial and particular purpose.

Thanks to our scientific advisor prof. Marko Spasenović for supporting us and to prof. Peter Steeneken for accepting us.
